How do I choose caption and subtitle software?

Choose a tool that delivers the subtitle format and timing controls your publishing workflow requires. Review the text and playback separately: an accurate transcript can still produce captions with poor timing, line breaks or missing sound information.

This category currently lists 377 matching products and selected placements, with up to 24 products per page. Featured placement is separate from a measured performance ranking.

How are captions different from a transcript?

Captions synchronize text with the media and can include speech and relevant non-speech audio. A plain transcript is not a timed caption file. W3C’s captions guidance explains this distinction; test the final export in the player or editor where it will be used.

Which costs should I compare for captions & subtitles?

Compare transcription usage with caption translation, video export, watermark, storage and collaboration limits. These may have separate allowances even when they are offered in the same editor.
