# Subtitle format acceptance files

These are original editorially constructed text-and-timestamp fixtures. They provide known inputs for checking subtitle format, text, line breaks and timing. They are not recordings, transcription-service outputs or recognition-accuracy results.

- **fixture.json** — canonical eight cues, exact millisecond times, text and declared counting policy.
- **fixture.srt** — numbered SRT cues, comma-separated milliseconds.
- **fixture.vtt** — WebVTT header and cue identifiers, period-separated milliseconds.
- **fixture-verification.json** — independent parse results, literal checks, arithmetic, UTF-8/NFC details and SHA-256 file hashes.

Expected baseline: 8 cues; first start 500 ms; final end 29,600 ms; active duration 27,000 ms; seven 300 ms gaps; intentional two-line cues 3 and 5. The accented name Renée O'Neil, identifier X-27, unit 3.5 mm and sound cue [door closes] remain literal checks.

Character counts remove whitespace, retain punctuation and count NFC Unicode code points. CPS divides this count by duration in seconds; line length is measured per explicit line. The documented 42 CPL / 20 CPS values are reference guidelines, not universal acceptance criteria. No product has been assigned a fixture score.
