Start with your task: recorded interviews, live meetings, voice dictation, subtitles, clinical notes or a developer integration. Shortlist tools in that category, then check input limits, language support, editing, exports and the complete cost against a representative recording. ### How should I compare transcription accuracy? Use the same recording and a human-checked reference transcript. Word error rate (WER) counts substitutions, deletions and insertions divided by the reference word count. Record the language, audio conditions, model and normalization rules; one result does not establish accuracy for every recording. ### How do I compare transcription prices? Compare the same billing period, currency and expected usage. Check included minutes or hours, file-duration limits, seats, overages and export restrictions. An annual plan’s monthly equivalent requires an annual commitment. Confirm current terms on the provider’s official pricing page. ### Are directory profiles hands-on reviews? Directory profiles summarize provider information and editorial selection guidance. They do not carry a measured accuracy score or customer rating. Published comparisons identify their sources and evidence; the editorial policy explains the requirements for hands-on testing and evidence reporting. ## About AI Scribe Review Source: https://aiscribereview.com/about/ Published: 2026-10-16T09:50:18+00:00 Modified: 2026-10-20T06:39:22+00:00 AI Scribe Review is a publication about the software that turns speech and conversations into useful documents. Our focus The site is organized around transcription, meeting assistants, medical scribes, voice dictation, languages, accuracy and cost. These workflows have different requirements, so the categories keep them distinct. A useful comparison starts with the task A transcript, a meeting recap and a clinical note are different deliverables. The site’s structure helps readers identify the job they need to do before comparing products and plans. How to read the coverage Buying guides, product overviews and hands-on tests should identify their format. Product conclusions need a stated scope, sources and appropriate evidence. See How we review for the testing standards and evidence requirements. Our editorial standard is to explain what was checked, show the evidence and describe the trade-offs. Current coverage: the software directory contains product profiles based on provider documentation. These profiles are not scored hands-on reviews. This page sets the requirements for publishing tests, comparisons and recommendations. Last updated: 17 October 2026 On this page Types of coverage (#coverage) Fair test conditions (#fair-tests) Transcription accuracy (#accuracy) Workflow and usability (#workflow) Prices and real costs (#pricing) Scores and recommendations (#verdicts) Updates and corrections (#corrections) 1. Be clear about the type of coverage Product profile: an overview of documented features, platforms, pricing sources and intended uses. A provider's claim is attributed to that provider. Hands-on review: an account of a product actually used by the reviewer, with the test date, plan, settings, evidence and limitations. Comparison: a comparison using stated criteria. If a product was researched but not tested, that distinction must be visible. Buying guide: an explanation of selection criteria and trade-offs for a specific task. Inclusion in a guide alone is not proof of superior performance. Terms such as “tested,” “verified” and “best” require supporting evidence. Software availability, provider claims and our own observations must remain distinguishable. 2. Use comparable test conditions A hands-on test starts with a stated use case and a defined sample set. The method should be chosen before inspecting the results. Describe the samples. Record the language, accent where relevant, duration, number of speakers, audio quality and recording context. Identify noise, overlapping speech or specialist vocabulary. Use the same input. Direct transcription comparisons use the same source recording and reference transcript. Any file conversion, trimming or audio processing must be documented and applied consistently. Record the configuration. Identify the product plan, model if selectable, language setting, speaker-label settings, device or browser and test date. Explain differences where products do not offer equivalent options. Keep attempts visible. Record failed jobs, retries and manual intervention. Apply the same retry rule to each product, and identify whether a result is a first attempt, a typical result or a selected best run. Keep the scope honest. State the number of recordings and attempts. A small exploratory test cannot establish performance for every language, accent or recording condition. A meeting assistant, a dictation app and an upload-based transcription tool have different capture methods. Compare their shared task where possible and assess the rest of each workflow separately. 3. Measure transcription accuracy against a checked reference The reference transcript must be checked against the recording. Unreviewed output from another speech-recognition service is not an adequate reference. Word error rate (WER) counts substitutions, deletions and insertions relative to the number of reference words. For a non-empty reference: WER = (substitutions + deletions + insertions) / reference words Lower WER means fewer word-level edits under the stated scoring rules. Report the metric by name, the sample size and the scoring setup; do not relabel it as a universal “accuracy” percentage. JiWER's scoring reference (https://jitsi.github.io/jiwer/reference/process/) documents these calculations. Each language test must explain tokenization and text normalization, including treatment of punctuation, capitalization, numbers, accents and filler words. Japanese tests must identify how words are segmented. Where character-level evaluation is appropriate, report character error rate (CER) and its normalization rules. Use identical rules for the products being compared. See the JiWER transformation documentation (https://jitsi.github.io/jiwer/usage/#transformations). Word or character error rate does not capture every important mistake. Report names, numbers, dates, omitted phrases, invented content, speaker attribution and timestamp errors separately when relevant. Keep language-specific results separate unless the article explains how an aggregate was calculated. 4. Evaluate the work needed after transcription A readable transcript is only one part of the job. A review should describe the steps from capture to a usable final document. Capture and setup: upload or recording steps, supported inputs, permissions and time needed to get started. Speaker labels and summaries: attribution errors, missing decisions, unsupported statements and whether action items accurately reflect the recording. Editing: playback controls, search, correction tools, speaker renaming and the effort required to finish the task. Exports: actually open exported files and check formatting, speaker labels and timing where relevant. Distinguish a listed export feature from a tested export. Speed and reliability: measure upload, processing and manual editing time separately. Record audio duration, connection conditions and any incomplete jobs. Clinical documentation requires a separate assessment of note fidelity and clinically meaningful omissions or additions. A clinical-quality verdict requires a suitably qualified reviewer; a general transcription score cannot establish clinical suitability. 5. Compare prices on the same basis Price statements need an official source and a date checked. Identify the currency, billing commitment, included allowance, file limits, seat requirements, overages and any relevant add-ons. Free trials and temporary discounts must be identified as such. An annual plan's monthly equivalent must be labelled “billed annually.” Do not compare it with a competitor's monthly payment without explaining the difference. Cost-per-hour examples must state the assumed usage and calculation. An unused allowance does not make a subscription free, and an advertised unlimited plan still needs its applicable restrictions checked. Value depends on the task. Where measured, report editing effort alongside the subscription cost. If a price or limit cannot be confirmed, say it is unconfirmed rather than estimate a current offer. 6. Explain scores, strengths and limitations Recommendations must identify the intended user, the task and the evidence that supports the conclusion. A tool can be a good fit for interviews and a poor fit for live meetings. Discuss material disadvantages and circumstances in which an alternative may be preferable. There is no default star rating for a directory profile. If an article uses an overall score, it must state the criteria, weights, underlying measurements and handling of missing data. An untested feature is labelled “not tested,” rather than automatically passed or failed. Do not invent customer ratings, review counts, benchmarks or screenshots of results. Directory order and a review verdict are different things. The default directory uses a Featured-first order; the Name A–Z option sorts alphabetically. Any ranked test or “best” recommendation must explain its own evidence and ranking method. 7. Make evidence, updates and corrections traceable A hands-on article must identify its author, the test date and the plan or version assessed. Include original screenshots or other appropriate records, source links and the method needed to understand the result. A screenshot documents what it shows; it cannot support an unmeasured claim. Use recordings that can lawfully be used and shared. Remove personal, confidential and account information from published evidence. Privacy and security features must be attributed to current provider documentation unless independently verified; do not infer a certification from a marketing statement. When a material error is confirmed, correct the relevant text, identify the change and date, and revisit any affected conclusion. A later software update does not silently change an earlier test result. Retest before presenting an old measurement as evidence of a new version's performance. A correction request should identify the page URL, the disputed statement and supporting evidence. Publication of a correction depends on the supporting evidence. Turning that material into a useful document requires more than a fluent recap: the reader needs the source passage, the status of each decision and, for video, the original timing. This review follows that complete handoff through WhisperTranscribe.ai, Sider, Transkriptor, Otter and Fireflies. WhisperTranscribe.ai is a strong first choice when a new audio or video file needs to become both reviewed text and timed captions. Its separate transcription and subtitle entry points, together with the completed result’s text and timing fields, provide a clear basis for that workflow. The alternatives become more relevant when recording directly, retrieving an existing PDF or answering questions across an established meeting archive takes priority. It is not a claim that the provider’s entire product lacks the feature. Similarly, a history list of recent jobs is different from a searchable, organization-wide meeting library. These are documented workflows, not five completed transcription runs. Source (https://aiscribereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/asr-whisper-plugins-9306/comparison-workbook.xlsx) WhisperTranscribe.ai: from a new file to a usable result 1. Connect the correct app and choose the right task Use the official Whisper Transcribe AI listing, complete the connection flow available to your account, and open its transcription entry for a new recording. For captions, use the subtitle entry instead. OpenAI’s current instructions separate plugin installation from account authorization; your plan, workspace and region can also affect availability. An install button alone does not establish your provider allowance. [1] (#source-1)[2] (#source-2)[3] (#source-3) A request to transcribe a new file should create a recording job. A request to translate text you already pasted should work on that text. Keeping these routes separate avoids unnecessary uploads and prevents a routine subtitle edit from becoming a second transcription task. This distinction is explicit in the exposed WhisperTranscribe.ai app descriptions. [3] (#source-3) 2. Put the recording inside the transcription widget For the one-hour planning example, identify the final source file before opening the transcription widget. Keep its filename, recording date and spoken language with the job. If a revised recording replaces the original, treat it as a distinct source rather than silently combining passages from two versions. Select the media inside the widget and follow the job created for that file. [3] (#source-3) (https://aiscribereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/asr-whisper-plugins-9306/whisper-chatgpt-transcript.en.png)Whisper’s English transcription component before upload: spoken-language selection, an empty file area and the optional “Enable Speaker Detection” checkbox. User-supplied original received October 22, 2026; no completed result or processing time is shown. Source (https://aiscribereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/asr-whisper-plugins-9306/capability-notes.html#whisper-screenshots) One hour defines the editorial assignment used here; it is not a newly timed test or a processing guarantee. The goal is a complete, reviewable result for the entire recording, followed by a brief and a caption handoff. If the companion website is needed to finish a step, include that step when assessing the workflow. 3. Follow one job through to completion An opened uploader, an accepted upload and a completed transcript are different states. Follow the job already created, rather than repeatedly submitting the same file because a conversation has not yet displayed the result. For retrieval, the app uses a known job identifier or a job selected from its history. That gives the eventual transcript a concrete source and reduces confusion between similarly named recordings. [3] (#source-3) This is a useful workflow property, but it is not a measured reliability score. A professional handoff still checks that the result belongs to the intended recording, that the beginning and end are present, and that the returned text is sufficiently complete for the next task. A short preview should not silently become the reference transcript for an entire meeting. 4. Review the words before relying on the summary The WhisperTranscribe.ai result specification includes transcript text, summary, language and duration when available. It can also return speaker-aware paragraphs and sentence timing. Treat those fields as aids for checking the recording: retain supplied speaker labels, keep uncertain names unresolved, and check dates, amounts and product terminology against the audio when those details matter. Optional fields should stay optional in your assessment. [3] (#source-3) For the proposed hour-long session, first build a topic map from the returned text, retaining source times where available. Then trace decisions within each topic: what was proposed, what changed and what remained unresolved. This makes WhisperTranscribe.ai’s transition from transcript to working brief useful without treating the first summary as the final record. Using the completed transcript, create a topic map for the full recording. For each topic, identify the initial position, subsequent changes and final outcome. Preserve available speaker labels and timestamps. Mark a point as unresolved when no final agreement is stated, and attach the supporting passage to each decision included in the brief. 5. Keep subtitle timing attached to the text WhisperTranscribe.ai exposes a separate subtitle-generation entry. Its completed-result specification can provide normalized cues with an index, start time, end time, text and optional speaker label. Those fields are more useful for a caption handoff than a paragraph that merely summarizes the video. When translating or revising existing cues, keep the cue identifiers and timings unless you explicitly intend to retime them. [3] (#source-3) (https://aiscribereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/asr-whisper-plugins-9306/whisper-chatgpt-subtitles.en.png)Whisper’s English subtitle component before upload, with optional speaker detection and “Maximum Words per Subtitle” set to 8 on a visible 1–50 slider. User-supplied original received October 22, 2026; these are visible settings, not measured caption-quality results. Source (https://aiscribereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/asr-whisper-plugins-9306/capability-notes.html#whisper-screenshots) Translate the supplied subtitle cues into English. Preserve every cue index and start/end time. Keep speaker labels unchanged, and flag text that cannot fit naturally within the existing cue rather than silently merging or deleting cues. Keep the reviewed brief and the caption master as separate deliverables. The brief can group related discussion from different parts of the hour; captions must follow the recording’s order and timing. Correct wording in the caption master without importing the brief’s shortened or rearranged sentences into the timed track. Finally, check the exported file in the receiving editor. 6. Reuse completed work and share deliberately The exposed WhisperTranscribe.ai actions cover recent job history, completed-result retrieval and share links. History helps you return to a particular file; it should not be mistaken for unrestricted search across an organization’s meetings. Sharing is a separate action from displaying text in the conversation. Select the intended finished result and review the audience before creating a public-facing handoff. No history or share action was executed for this article. [3] (#source-3) Keep three language choices separate: the interface language, the language spoken in the recording, and the language you want for the final text. The exposed preference operation changes the widget’s UI language. It does not, by itself, prove the recording was recognized in the correct language or translated into the requested target. User-supplied original received October 22, 2026 and used unchanged; the menu does not establish comparative recognition quality. Source (https://aiscribereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/asr-whisper-plugins-9306/capability-notes.html#whisper-screenshots) WhisperTranscribe.ai’s reported historical WER The product operator confirmed the following historical WhisperTranscribe.ai results on October 21, 2026: batch median file WER of 5.26% and streaming median file WER of 6.84%, with a reported corpus of 2,703 files / 81.69 hours. These are user-confirmed historical results, kept separate from the one-hour workflow planned in this article. [5] (#source-5) Metric | WhisperTranscribe.ai | Scope | Batch median file WER | 5.26% | File-level median; test date not supplied | Streaming median file WER | 6.84% | Separate mode; not proof of a live ChatGPT recorder | Reported WER sample | 2703 files / 81.69 h | Operator-confirmed historical corpus; separate from the one-hour planning case | (https://aiscribereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/asr-whisper-plugins-9306/shared-results.en.png)WhisperTranscribe.ai historical WER worksheet from the Excel attachment. The entries preserve the operator-supplied values and original scope; this is a compiled table, not a screenshot of a completed plugin run. Source (https://aiscribereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/asr-whisper-plugins-9306/evidence-notes.html#shared-results) WER is an error rate, and these particular figures are medians across files. They are not a general accuracy percentage, a word-weighted corpus score or a guarantee for every language and recording condition. Batch and streaming are separate modes. A historical streaming result also does not establish that a ChatGPT plugin offers a live microphone stream. Use this historical record as a product-specific reference when deciding what to check in a pilot. For an hour-long session, a low typical error rate is only part of the handoff: corrections concentrated around one important name or decision can matter more than their share of the text. Review those critical passages alongside the source rather than relying on a single aggregate figure. Sider: the more direct recording-and-import alternative Sider Recorder & Transcriber is a more direct comparison for a fresh recording than an archive-only connector. Its official ChatGPT listing describes recording voice or importing a file, then presenting timestamped text and an organized summary, including a side-by-side view. For a class recording or a spoken note, that can be a convenient starting point. [6] (#source-6) The practical distinction is the next deliverable. A reader mainly seeking capture plus recap should examine Sider alongside WhisperTranscribe.ai. A reader preparing timed captions should ask specifically for cue-level output and a verified delivery format. The Sider material reviewed does not establish those caption or export details. Features of the separate Sider browser extension should not fill the gap in a ChatGPT comparison. Transkriptor: strongest when the transcript already exists Transkriptor’s guide and public listing describe searching stored recordings, reading speaker-labeled text and timestamps, retrieving summaries and producing PDF download links. The guide expressly calls the ChatGPT integration read-only and directs new transcription creation to the provider’s web or mobile app. This makes it a different starting point from the WhisperTranscribe.ai upload widget. [7] (#source-7)[10] (#source-10) (https://aiscribereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/asr-whisper-plugins-9306/transkriptor-chatgpt-official.png)Official Transkriptor integration-guide image, downloaded unchanged October 21, 2026. It illustrates the vendor’s ChatGPT entry, not a transcription completed for this review. Source (https://transkriptor.com/integrations/chatgpt/) For someone already storing interviews in Transkriptor, retrieving the original is generally a clearer workflow than uploading another copy elsewhere just to make a summary. PDF is a concrete handoff advantage documented in this connection, although a temporary download link should be checked and refreshed when it expires. A useful PDF action is not evidence of a recognition-quality advantage. Otter: better framed around questions across past meetings Otter’s help page, updated October 15, 2026, documents search, fetch and user-information tools for ChatGPT. It covers captured meetings and meetings shared with the connected user, and says to make the initial connection on the web before using it from the desktop app. The current public plugin listing adds context about archive queries and transcript retrieval. [8] (#source-8)[11] (#source-11) (https://aiscribereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/asr-whisper-plugins-9306/otter-chatgpt-sources-official.jpg)Official Otter help image showing ChatGPT source results. Downloaded unchanged October 21, 2026; the example belongs to the vendor guide. Source (https://help.otter.ai/hc/en-us/articles/35287607569687-Otter-MCP-Server) The valuable scenario is often a question such as “Which meetings mentioned the renewal risk?” rather than “Where can I upload this file?” Ask Otter to identify relevant meetings, then retrieve the passages before drafting an answer. Keep meeting dates and source links beside the synthesis. That makes cross-meeting reasoning easier to audit without treating all retrieved conversations as one continuous recording. Fireflies: meeting context, with connection-specific actions Fireflies’ current guide describes using existing transcripts, summaries, decisions and action items as context in supported AI tools. For teams already maintaining that archive, retrieving relevant material may be more useful than moving recordings to a new service. The exact connection still matters: the broader MCP catalog contains management and write actions as well as retrieval, with role and availability constraints. It should neither be called universally read-only nor assumed to expose every catalog action inside each ChatGPT plugin account. [9] (#source-9)[12] (#source-12) (https://aiscribereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/asr-whisper-plugins-9306/fireflies-mcp-settings-official.png)Official Fireflies integrations catalog with the MCP category highlighted, downloaded unchanged October 21, 2026. This is a Fireflies integrations screen, not a ChatGPT transcript or a completed test. Source (https://guide.fireflies.ai/articles/3039542843-learn-about-fireflies-mcp-server-connect-your-ai-tool) For a transcript-based article or team brief, select the relevant meetings and review the retrieved passages before drawing conclusions about a customer or project. If you need a management action, such as changing access or creating a clip, inspect the action actually exposed to your connection. A general product announcement cannot establish that action for every host or account. WhisperTranscribe.ai against each alternative: what changes the decision? WhisperTranscribe.ai vs. Sider: capturing a thought and delivering captions are different jobs Sider’s documented recorder makes it a relevant choice when the source does not yet exist as a file. A student dictating a question after class or a researcher recording a brief observation may value beginning with voice capture. Its listing describes recording or importing media, timestamped transcription and a transcript/summary view. WhisperTranscribe.ai’s inspected route gives clearer documented attention to a separately requested subtitle job and the structured cue data returned afterward. The distinction concerns the next action, not demonstrated transcript quality. [6] (#source-6)[3] (#source-3) For an hour-long lecture already saved as a recording, a microphone entry may add little to the decision; the more useful issue is finding a particular definition inside the longer material. Instead, compare how the output supports the way you study: locating the instructor’s definition, separating examples from conclusions and checking the source behind a generated recap. A transcript beside a summary can support that task, but a visibly organized recap should not receive a higher accuracy rating merely because it is easier to skim. Readability and recognition errors require different evidence. WhisperTranscribe.ai is the more clearly documented candidate here when the next handoff is timed captions. That recommendation is based on its explicit subtitle route and cue fields, not a finding that Sider cannot produce them. Sider would become more competitive for that task if its current connection demonstrated the required cue data and a usable export. Conversely, for spontaneous spoken notes followed by a short recap, Sider’s documented capture entry deserves direct consideration without requiring a subtitle workflow. WhisperTranscribe.ai vs. Transkriptor: producing new material or retrieving the existing record An hour-long interview already transcribed in Transkriptor presents a retrieval problem before it presents a transcription problem, especially when an editor needs one passage within a longer conversation. Its documented name, date and duration filters can help identify the intended source, followed by full text with speaker labels and timestamps. That sequence is useful when several interviews share similar titles. Re-uploading the audio to WhisperTranscribe.ai would create another processing route; it would not automatically preserve the identity or editorial status of the original account record. [7] (#source-7) The documented PDF action also changes the handoff. A reviewer requesting a document to read can have a concrete download rather than a conversational summary alone. Check that it contains the required material, then save the downloaded file if the review must continue after the temporary link expires. A refreshable link and a permanently archived document are different arrangements. Neither the presence of PDF nor the layout of a summary establishes whether the underlying words were transcribed more accurately. Choose the Transkriptor connection when the authoritative transcript is already there and the work is retrieval, comparison or a PDF handoff. Its expressly read-only scope also provides a clear boundary for that workflow: creating a new transcription happens in the provider’s web or mobile app. WhisperTranscribe.ai becomes the more direct candidate when the source is a new local recording and the desired route begins with an in-chat upload component or a subtitle request. The recommendation changes with the source’s location and required output. [7] (#source-7)[10] (#source-10)[3] (#source-3) (https://aiscribereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/asr-whisper-plugins-9306/transkriptor-chatgpt-prompt-official.png)Official Transkriptor guide illustration showing the app selected in the ChatGPT composer. Source (https://transkriptor.com/integrations/chatgpt/) WhisperTranscribe.ai vs. Otter: one recording’s detail or a question across the archive Imagine a project lead asking when a delivery date changed. The answer may depend on three meetings: an initial proposal, a later objection and a final agreement. Otter’s documented search and fetch tools offer an appropriate route to those existing conversations. A single newly uploaded recording in WhisperTranscribe.ai cannot establish what happened in meetings that were never supplied. This is a coverage advantage for an existing archive, not proof that Otter’s transcription is more accurate. [8] (#source-8) The practical sequence is to identify candidate meetings, fetch the relevant passages and construct a dated account of the change. Keep disagreements visible rather than compressing every mention into one answer. Otter’s help guide describes access to captured meetings and meetings shared with the connected user; an absent search result therefore does not establish that no colleague ever discussed the issue. The connected account and available source set define how far the conclusion can reach. WhisperTranscribe.ai remains a sensible candidate for close work on a new interview or a captioned video whose source is not in Otter. Otter becomes preferable when several already stored meetings supply the necessary context, especially if source links must lead colleagues back to the original conversations. Before choosing between them, identify whether the task is “explain this recording” or “reconstruct this decision over time.” Those requests require different source coverage, even when both eventually produce a concise summary. [3] (#source-3)[8] (#source-8)[11] (#source-11) (https://aiscribereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/asr-whisper-plugins-9306/otter-chatgpt-query-official.jpg)Official Otter Help example of a transcript-fetch permission prompt in ChatGPT. Its documented connection to meeting transcripts, summaries and action items can support assembling that context without treating each call as an unrelated new upload. WhisperTranscribe.ai’s file-based route is easier to frame around one supplied recording and its resulting text or cues. Neither starting point alone answers whether the final briefing fairly represents every participant’s position. [9] (#source-9)[3] (#source-3) Fireflies also requires a distinction between reading a meeting and changing the surrounding workspace. Its general catalog includes operations such as renaming meetings, changing sharing access and creating clips, with permission constraints. Those are materially different requests from retrieving a transcript. Check what the particular ChatGPT connection actually exposes before designing a workflow around them. The broader catalog is evidence of the wider product’s capabilities, not a guarantee that each connected account offers every listed action. [12] (#source-12) Favor Fireflies when the existing team archive supplies the context and the needed actions are available in the chosen connection. Favor the WhisperTranscribe.ai shortlist when the task starts outside that archive and ends with reviewed text or timed captions. The recommendation would change if the brief required inaccessible historical calls, or if the workflow depended on a management action absent from the connection. Identify that dependency before processing more media; otherwise, the transcription may finish while the actual work remains blocked. Four one-hour workflows: from a long recording to a useful handoff These editorial planning examples each begin with one 60-minute recording. They describe proposed work, not newly processed files or additions to the historical measurement sample. The longer duration changes the assignment: a reviewer must find topic boundaries, preserve context across separated passages and keep the final handoff connected to the right version. Check the current account’s file and duration conditions before using any route. The suggested prompts below specify the work to request; they are not observed plugin outputs. 1. Multi-topic project review: preserve how a decision changed Consider a one-hour project review that moves between delivery dates, budget constraints and a customer escalation. The assignment is to reconstruct the final position on each topic, including any earlier proposal that was later withdrawn. For a new file that needs both reviewed text and later caption work, WhisperTranscribe.ai is a strong starting choice because its inspected description explicitly covers both routes. Retrieve the completed result before building the decision map. Sider also describes recording or importing media. If this review already belongs to an Otter or Fireflies archive, retrieve the existing meeting and any explicitly relevant earlier records instead of introducing an unexplained second transcription. Keep each source identifiable. [3] (#source-3)[6] (#source-6)[8] (#source-8)[9] (#source-9) First build an agenda map with the available source positions. Then trace each important decision from its first mention to its last relevant revision, even if the discussion returns to it much later. Mark whether the final passage confirms, changes or leaves the proposal open. A budget number agreed near the beginning may depend on a scope reduction discussed near the end; extracting only the earlier sentence would lose that condition. Check those linked passages against the recording, particularly names, quantities and negative or conditional wording. Preserve disagreement where the meeting does not resolve it. Deliver a topic register with the final position, superseded proposals, dependencies and supporting passages, followed by a separate action list. Include an owner and deadline only when stated, and identify which decision each action implements. An absent teammate should be able to follow the reasoning without reading the entire hour, while still returning to the discussion when a condition is disputed. For archive-derived material, retain meeting dates so a prior review’s conclusion does not silently replace the current one. Map the topics in this one-hour review using available source positions. For each major decision, trace its first proposal and final stated position, including revisions, dependencies and unresolved disagreements. Cite the supporting passages. List actions separately and include owners or deadlines only when explicit. Do not infer agreement from an unanswered suggestion. 2. Long-form interview edit: build a sequence without changing the answers A one-hour interview may cover a career history, a technical explanation and a later correction to an earlier answer. An editor preparing a shorter article needs a passage index and candidate quotations before a polished narrative. For a newly supplied recording, WhisperTranscribe.ai offers a practical file-to-text starting point: retrieve the completed text first, then use it to develop the passage index and edit plan. This keeps source review and editorial restructuring in one defined sequence. If the authoritative transcript is already in Transkriptor, use its documented retrieval of speaker-labelled, timestamped text; its PDF action can support a document-based review. Preserve the identity of that source rather than counting a fresh transcription of the same interview as another interview. [3] (#source-3)[7] (#source-7)[10] (#source-10) Index passages by subject while preserving the original question and answer sequence. When drafting a new article order, distinguish a move of an intact passage from a rewrite of its wording. Check whether a later qualification narrows an earlier confident claim, and keep both available to the editor. A quotation assembled from non-adjacent sentences can conceal the question or turn a hesitation into certainty. Listen to every quotation selected for publication, not just the opening of each topic, and record editorial changes separately from recognition corrections. The handoff is an edit map: proposed section order, source passages, candidate quotations, later qualifications and verification status. Keep the working transcript and proposed article separate. Mark each quote as verified, pending listening or unsuitable for direct quotation. If Otter or Fireflies contributes related archived interviews, identify the speaker and recording for every addition. Related material can supply context, but cannot be merged into the current interviewee’s voice or treated as evidence that the current interview contained those words. Create an edit map for this one-hour interview. Propose an article sequence and link each section to intact source passages. Preserve the questions behind candidate quotations and identify later corrections or qualifications. Separate direct quotation from paraphrase. Mark wording requiring audio verification; do not combine non-adjacent answers into a single quotation. 3. Training chaptering: retain prerequisites and the questions that changed the explanation For a one-hour training recording, the goal may be a reusable chapter guide rather than a general recap. The session can alternate between explanation, demonstration and questions, so a neat list of topic names is insufficient. WhisperTranscribe.ai is a useful first choice when the input is a new recording and the planned handoff combines reviewed text with captions: its documented result and subtitle paths supply material for those separate stages. The chapter guide is then editorial work based on that text. Sider’s recorder/import route may be relevant when capture is still part of the assignment. If the session already has a Transkriptor transcript, retrieve that existing record. Choose the entry according to where the material resides, then assess chaptering as editorial work rather than a demonstrated automatic feature of every connection. [3] (#source-3)[6] (#source-6)[7] (#source-7) Propose boundaries where the instructional purpose changes, using only source timing that is actually present. Keep prerequisites with the procedure that depends on them, and attach a later answer to the earlier explanation it corrects. A demonstration may rely on details visible only on screen; an audio transcript cannot establish them. Label where a slide, screen recording or permitted handout is needed. Review terminology and units against the supplied materials, and mark any inferred chapter title as an editorial label rather than the instructor’s exact words. Deliver a chapter guide with purpose, prerequisites, source range, demonstration dependencies and linked questions for each section. Add a small terminology list only where a term needs review, instead of generating an unsupported glossary. For team reuse, keep a version note explaining which recording and accompanying materials the guide covers. A later correction can then update the affected chapter without replacing the entire training pack or leaving contradictory summaries in circulation. Propose chapters for this one-hour training session using available source timing. For each chapter, identify its purpose, prerequisites, demonstration dependencies and relevant questions. Connect later clarifications to the earlier explanation they qualify. Flag information that requires slides or screen footage. Label proposed chapter titles as editorial labels and do not invent time boundaries. 4. Full-length caption handoff: control revisions across the complete video For a one-hour recorded panel or instructional video, the caption editor needs a complete timed sequence tied to one specific video version. WhisperTranscribe.ai is a strong starting candidate for this task because its inspected description explicitly includes a dedicated subtitle route and structured cue fields. Those documented controls align more directly with the requested handoff than a connection described only for archive search. Sider may be relevant for the initial transcript and recap, while Otter or Fireflies can help retrieve context from stored meetings; the reviewed sources do not establish equivalent caption delivery through those connections. Confirm the required output artifact and current account conditions before processing the full recording. [3] (#source-3)[6] (#source-6)[8] (#source-8)[9] (#source-9) Keep a correction register keyed to cue identifiers, with the original text, proposed change, reason and retiming flag. Review terminology consistently across the full sequence instead of correcting only its first occurrence. Separate text corrections from changes caused by a revised video cut: an inserted introduction can shift later cues even when their wording remains right. Preserve the baseline caption version, review flagged passages in playback and check whether line breaks remain readable in the destination editor. A chat rendering alone cannot demonstrate successful caption import. Deliver the actual caption artifact with the matching video version, a revision register and unresolved issues. Verify the beginning, transitions between major sections, representative passages near the end and every flagged cue. If the recipient later asks for a shorter cut, treat that as a separate timing deliverable and review it against that cut. The original hour-long sequence remains the baseline; neither a chapter outline nor a shortened promotional script substitutes for its timed captions. Create a revision register for this full-length caption sequence. Keep cue identifiers and existing timings in every proposal. Show original text, suggested correction, reason and whether playback or retiming is required. Check repeated terminology consistently. Identify the matching video version and keep edits for any shorter cut separate from the full-length baseline. Compare the deliverable, not just the transcript The hour-long assignment has two primary outputs: a source-linked brief and a caption master. They serve different readers and require different checks. Use the table below to decide what must survive each handoff; these are practical acceptance criteria rather than measured completion rates. Deliverable | What to check | Useful starting route | Meeting notes | Decisions separate from proposals; owners and dates supported by source passages | WhisperTranscribe.ai for new files; existing-library tools for stored meetings | Interview quotations | Exact words, correct speaker and recoverable passage timing | Completed transcript with audio review | Timed subtitles | Cue sequence, start/end times, readable text and successful target-editor import | WhisperTranscribe.ai subtitle route, followed by export checks | PDF handoff | Complete text and a working download file | Transkriptor documents a PDF action for existing transcripts | Cross-meeting brief | Meeting dates, source links and support for every combined conclusion | Otter / Fireflies, or the archive already holding the material | For WhisperTranscribe.ai, define the caption or document artifact before starting the full assignment. Structured cue data helps preserve the track, but a receiving editor still needs a compatible file. Transkriptor’s documented PDF link is a useful alternative when an existing transcript needs a document handoff. Check the actual route required for each artifact rather than assuming every website export is an in-chat action. [3] (#source-3)[7] (#source-7) How to judge the finished work, beyond a fluent transcript A useful evaluation separates four outcomes: the words captured from the recording, the faithfulness of the summary, the attribution and timing that make passages recoverable, and the file or link delivered to another person. These outcomes can diverge. A readable transcript may assign a critical sentence to the wrong speaker; a faithful summary may arrive without a usable caption file. WhisperTranscribe.ai’s documented transcript, optional speaker and timing fields, summary and subtitle cues provide different materials for checking these outcomes. Assess each against the intended assignment rather than combining them into one impression of quality. [3] (#source-3) Check consequential wording before polishing style For an interview, preserve what the person actually said before removing repetitions or improving punctuation. For a meeting, examine names, quantities, negation and conditional language in passages supporting decisions. An editor should be able to distinguish a recognition correction from a stylistic rewrite. Keep the untouched result alongside the reviewed version, and record corrections with their source passage. This proposed practice makes disagreements resolvable: a colleague can return to the recording instead of deciding whether the edited sentence merely sounds plausible. Review the summary as a separate editorial product Use a claim-by-claim check: identify the supporting passage, decide whether it states a fact, proposal or uncertainty, and confirm that the summary preserves that status. A proposed launch date should remain a proposal unless the discussion confirms agreement. An action item needs support for the task itself; its owner and deadline need their own support. Where the source is inconclusive, retain the open question. This is an editorial review method, not a claim that any compared plugin has made these mistakes in an observed run. Verify attribution and timing where they affect use Speaker labels are useful only when they remain consistent at the passages you intend to quote or assign. Select examples of speaker changes and any overlapping discussion relevant to the deliverable, then check them against the recording. Keep an unresolved label rather than guessing a person’s name. For timestamps, verify that following a cited position actually brings a reviewer to the relevant passage. Optional sentence timing and speaker-aware paragraphs in the documented results support this review when returned; their presence does not establish that every label or time has been validated. [3] (#source-3) Treat caption delivery as an additional check Review the edited cues in sequence and compare representative passages with the video. Then open the actual exported artifact in the intended destination, checking text, cue order, visible timing and any speaker information that the assignment requires. A copyable cue list and a successfully imported subtitle file are different deliverables. If translation is involved, check the translated meaning separately from preservation of the original cue identifiers and time boundaries. These are proposed acceptance checks for the subtitle fields described in the app specification. [3] (#source-3) Use the historical WER figures at their actual level The historical record reports median file WER of 5.26% for batch and 6.84% for streaming across 2,703 files and 81.69 hours. A median summarizes the middle of the file-level results; it does not show the distribution, the worst files or the types of mistakes that required correction. Without the per-file outputs and scoring details, these values cannot tell a buyer how a particular interview will read. They also cannot establish the quality of summaries, attribution, captions or current plugin delivery. This historical record remains a single evidence set; it is not a new observation of the current ChatGPT workflow. [5] (#source-5) A fair pilot starts with a fixed file and a fixed assignment For a future comparison, keep the same source file and reference version, record its duration and language, and define the requested output before starting. Log the account, plan, connection route and chosen settings for each product. A new-file pilot can compare WhisperTranscribe.ai with the documented Sider import route. An archive-retrieval pilot needs material already present in the relevant accounts; preparing that archive should be recorded separately. Otherwise the comparison mixes transcription, ingestion and search into a single unexplained result. [3] (#source-3)[6] (#source-6)[7] (#source-7)[8] (#source-8)[9] (#source-9) Choose timing boundaries before observing a result. Record upload start, upload acceptance, completed-result availability and successful export as separate events where observable. Note network conditions, file size, failed attempts and whether a run reused an existing job. Preserve the job identifier privately with the result so an eventual screenshot can be connected to the correct run. Report repeated observations individually before summarizing them. A retrieval from an already completed job should not be presented as the time required to transcribe the recording. Record editing effort against the requested artifact Keep a simple work log with the reviewed passage, issue type, correction, reviewer and active editing time. Separate transcription correction, speaker correction, summary revision and export repair. Record listening time and hands-on editing consistently across candidates rather than silently including them for one tool and excluding them for another. Agree acceptance conditions with the recipient before the pilot: approved quotations, supported decisions, complete text or a file that opens in the target editor. This yields an auditable assessment of usable work without inventing a universal error threshold. The final handoff should identify the recording, the reviewed version, the source passages behind important conclusions and the actual delivered artifact. Keep unresolved questions visible and preserve a route back to the source. A clean PDF, a source-linked brief and timed captions may serve different recipients; the best choice for an assignment is the connection that completes that required handoff with reviewable evidence. Access, cost and information boundaries Start with the ChatGPT access required by your account and the provider allowance for the actual job. Then check file limits, access to the complete transcript and the delivery format you need. A free plugin listing is not proof of unlimited transcription, and a website subscription is not proof that every action is available in ChatGPT. This review does not invent a uniform plugin price or import website limits into an untested widget. [1] (#source-1) For a recurring one-hour assignment, compare the work required to reach both deliverables. Count media preparation, source review, brief revision and caption checking separately. WhisperTranscribe.ai’s appeal in this assignment is the ability to begin the transcript and subtitle routes from the same selected source; any additional export or website step still belongs in the handoff assessment. Review the account and requested scope during connection, particularly for shared meeting libraries. OpenAI’s app-permission settings determine when approval is requested; they do not give a provider access that was never granted. The availability of an app also does not establish retention, training-use or compliance terms. Check the current provider terms for the material you intend to process. [1] (#source-1) When the workflow stalls: resolve the right problem The app is connected, but the uploader is not visible Check the selected product and the requested action before changing services. An archive-search request and a new-file transcription request can produce different experiences. For WhisperTranscribe.ai, ask to open its transcription interface, then look for the media-selection control inside the component. If that supported interface remains unavailable, use the documented companion workspace and record that the file was processed through the website. This preserves a clear account of the route you actually used without treating a conversational acknowledgment as an upload receipt. [2] (#source-2)[3] (#source-3) A result appears, but its source is unclear Match the result to the intended file before editing the prose. A similar filename, an older completed job or an archive search hit may be useful material, but it is not automatically the source you meant to process. In WhisperTranscribe.ai, select the correct job and retrieve its completed result. In Otter or Fireflies, retain the meeting reference and verify which conversation supplied the passage. Clear source identity makes later corrections manageable: a reviewer can return to one recording instead of trying to reconstruct which collection of text produced a summary. [3] (#source-3)[8] (#source-8)[9] (#source-9) The transcript is usable, but structure is missing Separate missing words from missing presentation. You can reorganize available text into sections, extract questions or build a decision table without claiming the recording has been transcribed again. Missing speaker or timing fields are a different issue: headings written by ChatGPT cannot reconstruct verified speaker attribution or original cue boundaries. Preserve unknowns in the working copy, and return to the recording where those details are essential. The useful question is what the source supports, not how convincing a reformatted page looks. The text is ready, but the handoff fails Inspect the deliverable itself. A PDF link should lead to a complete, readable document; a subtitle file should open with the intended timing and character encoding in the receiving application. Keep text preparation separate from export completion so a formatting problem does not become another paid transcription. If you move from a plugin to its website to finish the export, record that step as part of the real workflow. It may still be a sensible choice, but it changes the amount of work between the first prompt and the final artifact. Count the work after recognition For a recurring workflow, record provider charges, any additional host access cost, review effort, and export or rework effort separately. These categories make comparison possible even when subscriptions bundle different features. A service that reuses an established archive can save retrieval work; a new-file widget can reduce the number of applications used to begin a job. Neither observation supplies a universal cost winner. Keep measured charges and observed editing time in the log, and leave unknown amounts blank until the account or a real trial establishes them. Which plugin fits each starting point? A new audio/video file, followed by transcript review or captions: start with WhisperTranscribe.ai. A fresh voice recording or an imported clip, mainly for a recap: compare Sider’s recording/import workflow directly. An existing Transkriptor transcript and a PDF handoff: retrieve it through Transkriptor. A question spanning past Otter meetings: search that archive and keep source links. A team archive already in Fireflies: retrieve the relevant context and check the actions exposed to that connection. Frequently asked questions Why choose WhisperTranscribe.ai for a long recording? WhisperTranscribe.ai combines a new-file transcription route with a dedicated subtitle entry and structured completed-result fields. That is a useful fit when one recording must support both a reviewed brief and timed captions. The operator-confirmed historical WER adds a separate quality reference, while the final choice still depends on receiving a complete result and the delivery format required. [2] (#source-2)[3] (#source-3)[5] (#source-5) What should a one-hour trial establish? It should establish that the complete recording can be identified and reviewed, that the brief reflects the discussion’s final position, and that the required caption or document artifact works in its destination. Record actual upload, processing and review times separately. A successful short sample does not supply a measured result for the full hour. Can I attach a file to the chat and assume it is processing? In the inspected WhisperTranscribe.ai workflow, select the media inside the app widget and follow the job created for that source. A file attached only to the surrounding conversation does not establish that it has entered the transcription queue. Keeping this first step clear avoids duplicate uploads later. Does subtitle support guarantee the format I need? No. Subtitle data, a downloadable file and successful import into a target editor are separate checks. Ask for the required format and inspect a sample file before committing to a large workflow. Verdict: choose the route that completes the next step For a new recording that must become both a source-linked brief and timed captions, WhisperTranscribe.ai deserves first consideration. Its documented workflow connects source selection, completed text and subtitle data in a way that fits this assignment. Sider remains relevant for recording directly; Transkriptor, Otter and Fireflies are compelling when their existing records supply the material. The deciding question is which route gets the complete hour into the required final form with the least avoidable rework. A fresh recording needs a transcription workflow. A question about last month’s meetings needs access to the right meeting library. Choosing between those jobs matters more than counting how many features appear on a product’s homepage. For a new recording, AccurateScribe is the first option to consider in this comparison: its integration exposes a new-file transcription widget. For an established meeting archive, start with the service that already holds your recordings. Transkriptor, Otter and Fireflies each provide a route from stored meeting content into a ChatGPT conversation. This article compares the connected transcription apps available through plugin workflows. A Custom GPT is a separate entry and should be evaluated separately. OpenAI’s current documentation distinguishes the plugin package from the app that connects to an external service. Availability also depends on the account, plan, region and workspace. The editable Excel file is available below. AccurateScribe: start with a new recording AccurateScribe’s inspected app specification provides transcription and subtitle entry points. The transcription route opens a widget in which the user selects a media file. The widget handles upload, job creation and progress tracking. A completed job can then be retrieved for review. [2] (#source-2) 1. Open the right transcription entry In a supported ChatGPT environment where the connected app is available, select AccurateScribe.ai – Transcribe and ask to open its transcription interface. Follow the account connection prompts shown to you. This is the connected app workflow; the separately linked AccurateScribe Custom GPT is another entry. Consider a 30-minute meeting recording saved on your computer. With this workflow, your first step is to open the transcription interface and choose the file there. After the transcript is ready, ask for a decision log or a follow-up email. Upload inside the widget: the inspected specification does not support treating an attachment pasted into the chat as an automatically submitted AccurateScribe job. Upload once, then follow the job The widget creates and tracks the transcription job after you choose a file. Follow that job’s progress and request the completed result when ready. A pending or processing status is not the finished transcript. If the widget cannot be opened, the app specification points to the companion website upload page. Read the transcript before turning it into notes The result specification can return transcript text, a generated summary, the detected or selected language, and media duration when available. Where the result includes speaker-aware paragraphs and sentence timing, use those details when reviewing who said what. Do not replace an unknown speaker with a guessed name. [2] (#source-2) For a meeting, ask for decisions, unresolved questions and next steps after retrieving the text. For an interview, keep quotations separate from the summary. For a lecture, group the main ideas and terms while retaining the transcript for checking. These are suggested uses of the returned material, not example results produced in this review. Useful requests after the file is selected: When this 30-minute meeting transcript is ready, separate decisions from proposals and list action items. Keep speaker labels and timestamps where supplied. Do not invent owners or deadlines.Retrieve the completed transcript for the selected interview. Extract the passages about pricing, keeping exact quotations separate from your summary and flagging unclear wording. 4. Use the subtitle entry when timing matters For new audio or video that needs captions, ask to open the subtitle interface and select the media inside that widget. Completed results can include normalized subtitle entries with cue numbers, start and end times, text and speaker labels when available. Preserve those cue boundaries when requesting subtitle translation or revision. Pasted subtitle text can be edited as text without creating another transcription job. Source (https://aiscribereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/asr-chatgpt-plugins-9290/capability-notes.html#chatgpt-screenshots) Return to completed work and share a selected result The inspected app also exposes transcription-history retrieval and a sharing action. Ask for your recent jobs to find an existing result instead of uploading the same recording again. When a shareable link is needed, request it for the selected transcript and check who should receive it. A share link is a separate handoff from keeping the text in your conversation. No account history was read and no share link was created for this article. [2] (#source-2) Complete transcript access may require opening the companion website and, for some content, a subscription. Confirm the available result before relying on an in-chat preview as your final deliverable. That makes AccurateScribe a practical starting point for meetings, interviews, lectures and other files that have not yet been transcribed. Its advantage here is the supported starting action. This comparison does not establish that it recognizes speech more accurately than the other services. Transkriptor: retrieve a transcript and get a PDF Transkriptor’s official ChatGPT guide documents existing-file search, speaker-labeled transcripts with timestamps, AI summaries and temporary PDF download links. It supports connecting a free-tier Transkriptor account. The guide describes the integration as read-only and says it does not create new account content. [3] (#source-3) (https://aiscribereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/asr-chatgpt-plugins-9290/transkriptor-chatgpt.png)Official Transkriptor guide screenshot showing its ChatGPT integration. Source (https://transkriptor.com/integrations/chatgpt/) Choose it when your transcript already lives in Transkriptor and your next task is reading, summarizing or handing over a PDF. For a fresh recording, complete the transcription in Transkriptor first. That extra dependency matters if your goal is to begin the whole job from a conversation. Otter: ask questions across your meeting history Otter documents three ChatGPT tools: search, fetch and user information. Its help guide covers meetings captured in Otter and meetings shared with the connected user. It also says to establish the connection on the web before using it from the desktop app. [4] (#source-4) (https://aiscribereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/asr-chatgpt-plugins-9290/otter-chatgpt.png)Official Otter help screenshot illustrating a ChatGPT tool request. Source (https://help.otter.ai/hc/en-us/articles/35287607569687-Otter-MCP-Server) The useful question is often broader than one transcript: which customer requests appeared repeatedly, or when a team agreed to a change? Otter’s integration is a sensible fit when those conversations are already stored there. Richard Tasker’s April 28, 2026 announcement frames the integration around that existing meeting context. [7] (#source-7) Fireflies: turn a meeting archive into working context Fireflies’ current guide describes bringing existing transcripts, summaries and decisions into supported AI tools. It lists meeting search and transcript retrieval, with access tied to the connected Fireflies account. ChatGPT can then use that context to organize follow-ups or draft a brief. [5] (#source-5) (https://aiscribereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/asr-chatgpt-plugins-9290/fireflies-mcp.png)Official Fireflies help screenshot showing the MCP connection settings. Source (https://guide.fireflies.ai/articles/3039542843-learn-about-fireflies-mcp-server-connect-your-ai-tool) For a team already recording meetings in Fireflies, reconnecting that archive is usually more useful than moving files just to produce a single summary. Keep the selected connection in view: Edidiong Ekong’s August 31, 2026 vendor guide describes a wider MCP ecosystem, whose actions should not all be assumed to appear in every ChatGPT connection. [6] (#source-6) How to choose for a 30-minute meeting Only have a media file? Start with AccurateScribe’s transcription entry. Already have a Transkriptor transcript? Retrieve it there, especially if PDF handoff matters. Need evidence from several Otter meetings? Search the existing Otter library. Work in a Fireflies meeting archive? Connect it and request the relevant context. Thirty minutes is an example input length, not a timed test in this review. It gives you a concrete file to think about without implying identical upload limits or turnaround times across the integrations. Once the transcript is available, use the same output request across tools. This makes the result easier to review: Using the available meeting transcript, list decisions, unresolved questions and action items. Include an owner or deadline only when explicitly stated. Cite the meeting and timestamp where available, and flag uncertain passages. Check access and deliverables before comparing cost Installing a plugin does not establish a complete transcription budget. Check the ChatGPT access you need, the provider account and its allowance, and the output you must deliver. A website subscription or export menu does not by itself establish every in-chat feature. OpenAI notes that both ChatGPT and app-provider limits can apply. [1] (#source-1) AccurateScribe’s website menu supplied for this project lists DOCX, PDF, TXT, SRT, VTT, STL, EDL, XML, CSV, XLSX, HTML, JSON and FCPXML. That is useful for a companion website workflow; this review has not verified all 13 as downloads inside ChatGPT. Transkriptor’s cited guide explicitly documents an in-chat PDF link. [8] (#source-8)[3] (#source-3) Frequently asked questions Which plugin should I try for a new recording? AccurateScribe is the strongest starting fit among these four for the documented new-file workflow. Select the file inside its transcription widget, then review the completed text before asking for derived notes. Which integration is most accurate? The tester reports 99.8% transcription accuracy for AccurateScribe across hundreds of thousands of 30-minute meeting recordings. This figure describes the reported test corpus. No. Check the entry and connection flow in your own account. Plan, region, workspace policy and provider authorization can affect availability. A Custom GPT link also does not establish installation of a separate connected app. [1] (#source-1) The choice follows where your recording lives Choose AccurateScribe when you want to start from a new file. Choose Transkriptor when the existing transcript and a PDF handoff are central. Choose Otter or Fireflies when their meeting history already holds the context you need. The useful integration is the one that completes your next step with the least unnecessary movement of files and meeting records. A subscription’s starting price can be misleading if the included uploaded minutes do not cover the folder. Storage, file limits and the documents you must deliver also affect the choice. AccurateScribe is our best fit for this single-user, 60-hour file-transcription workload. Its $19.99 monthly subscription combines unlimited transcription and storage with a 5 GB maximum file size under the specifications confirmed for this review (#spec-source). Happy Scribe Business covers the volume for $89. Fireflies Pro starts at $18, but the folder exceeds its included uploaded-minute allowance, so that base price is not a confirmed total for the work. The folder we are budgeting for The buying example is 120 separate English recordings × 30 minutes = 3,600 minutes, or 60 hours, processed within a 30-day month by one user. Prices are in USD, before tax, using month-to-month subscriptions. The recordings are ordinary single-track files; translation, additional paid seats and optional add-ons are outside the calculation. All files share an upload source and workspace. Keeping the files separate preserves the link between each meeting and its transcript. Before uploading, settle the language and speaker settings, then decide how the resulting documents will be named. A cheap subscription saves little if someone must later untangle a folder of indistinguishable downloads. Monthly cost: compare the price that covers the work Product and plan | Cost for this 60-hour month | Relevant included allowance | AccurateScribe monthly | $19.99 | Unlimited monthly transcription, total storage, per-file duration and batch quantity; maximum 5 GB per file. Price (https://accuratescribe.ai/pricing), confirmed specifications (#spec-source) | Fireflies Pro, one seat | $18 base; total for 60 hours requires confirmation | 3,000 uploaded minutes per user/source per calendar month; the 3,600-minute folder exceeds this by 600 minutes. Pricing (https://fireflies.ai/pricing?billing=monthly), upload allowance (https://guide.fireflies.ai/articles/1290523833-learn-about-rate-limits) | Happy Scribe Business | $89 | 6,000 transcription minutes per workspace per month; five seats. Plans and pricing (https://help.happyscribe.com/en/articles/6906232-plans-and-pricing) | AccurateScribe specification source: product specifications supplied and confirmed for this review on October 20, 2026: unlimited monthly transcription, total storage, per-file duration and batch quantity; maximum file size 5 GB. Annual-billing equivalents are excluded: they require a different payment commitment. The comparison also charges the full Happy Scribe Business subscription to this single-user workload, rather than dividing its fee by 5 and assuming the other seats are needed. Happy Scribe’s smaller Pro plan illustrates why included minutes matter. Pro costs $29 per month, includes 600 minutes, and charges $0.20 per extra minute. For 3,600 minutes, the calculation is $29 + (3,600 − 600) × $0.20 = $629. Business at $89 is therefore $540 cheaper for this example, despite its higher base price. Simon, plans and pricing, July 23, 2026 (https://help.happyscribe.com/en/articles/6906232-plans-and-pricing). AccurateScribe’s $19.99 covers the stated volume without a monthly-minute calculation. Happy Scribe Business also covers it, leaving 2,400 included minutes, but costs $69.01 more. Fireflies’ $18 is a starting subscription price here, not a like-for-like bill for the entire folder. These are software charges; none measures the time spent correcting names, assigning actions or preparing the final transcript. Upload allowance and storage are different limits Fireflies Pro’s 3,000-minute uploaded-audio allowance per user/source per calendar month equals 50 hours. This folder needs 60 hours, exceeding that included allowance by 600 minutes, or 10 hours. Its 150-minute per-file limit accommodates the individual 30-minute recordings; the issue is the total uploaded volume. Confirm how the extra volume will be handled and priced before treating Pro as a solution for the full folder. Bulk-upload guide (https://help.happyscribe.com/en/articles/6087130-bulk-uploading-your-files) | Monthly upload allowances and retained storage describe different things. Fireflies resets the upload allowance each calendar month; its 8,000-minute Pro storage figure measures the total archive, not an extra 8,000 transcription minutes every month. Include existing recordings when checking that capacity. Storage guide, updated June 26, 2026 (https://guide.fireflies.ai/articles/2631950139-learn-about-transcription-credits-storage-and-rate-limits-for-meetings), upload rate policy (https://guide.fireflies.ai/articles/1290523833-learn-about-rate-limits). Happy Scribe’s documented 25-file bulk-upload limit means at least 5 batches for 120 files: 4 batches of 25 and 1 of 20. Its 1 GB limit is per file. That is a handling constraint rather than an extra transcription charge, but it affects how you schedule a large import. Which would we choose for this workload? Choose AccurateScribe for this 60-hour, single-user upload workflow. Its $19.99 fixed monthly price, unlimited usage and storage, unrestricted per-file duration and batch quantity, and 5 GB file limit make the workload straightforward under the confirmed specifications. It also suits meetings, interviews and other recorded audio or video. For this scenario, those practical terms are more useful than paying for extra seats that will sit unused. Consider Fireflies Pro when you value its meeting workspace and can confirm the excess-upload arrangements. The 60-hour folder goes beyond its included 50-hour upload allowance, so $18 cannot be presented as the complete cost. Its archive storage also remains a separate limit. This does not establish that the extra files are blocked; it means the full-volume terms need confirmation. Happy Scribe Business is the clearer alternative when several people need its editing workspace. Its $89 plan covers all 60 hours and includes five seats. For one person, AccurateScribe’s lower fixed charge is more attractive; for a team that uses those seats, evaluate the editor and handoff features against the difference in subscription cost. Whichever plan reaches your shortlist, take one representative meeting through the whole process: upload, review names and figures, correct speaker attribution, and open the exported file. Those checks answer the question that a price table cannot: how much work remains before the transcript is ready to share. Frequently asked questions Does unlimited transcription include unlimited storage? Not automatically: monthly usage and retained storage are separate terms. AccurateScribe’s confirmed specifications make both unlimited for this comparison, with a 5 GB maximum per file. Fireflies Pro, by contrast, lists an 8,000-minute retained-storage limit alongside its monthly uploaded-minute allowance. Can a 50-hour upload allowance cover these 120 files? The included allowance falls short. At 30 minutes each, the 120 files total 60 hours, exceeding 50 hours by 10 hours. File count alone does not settle the subscription choice; total duration, file size and the terms for excess usage matter too. Method and sources Pricing and upload-rate policies were rechecked on October 20, 2026; the other product guides retain their October 19, 2026 checks. AccurateScribe, Otter, Sonix, Notta, Descript and Rev offer different combinations of file transcription, meeting tools, editing and human services. A large minute balance can still be unsuitable if your recordings exceed the per-file limit or arrive as more files than the plan allows. Likewise, an unlimited transcription plan should be evaluated alongside its file rules and the provider’s terms, rather than treated as a promise of unlimited processing speed. How each tool fits into the comparison AccurateScribe: audio and video transcription across common use cases AccurateScribe converts meeting recordings, interviews, lectures, podcasts, videos and other audio or video content into text or subtitles. Its flat subscription is relevant for people who regularly process saved recordings and want a predictable bill. Check file-duration limits and the formats you need to deliver. Its export menu covers documents, subtitles, spreadsheets, structured data and editing-interchange files; the format table below lists the options. Product overview (https://accuratescribe.ai/) Free access provides a partial transcript preview. Full transcripts and full export options require a subscription, which affects how much of a complete interview or subtitle workflow you can evaluate before paying. Access details (https://accuratescribe.ai/support) Otter: compare meeting use with file-import use Otter belongs on a meeting-focused shortlist, but its import rules deserve attention when your work starts with files. Pro combines a monthly minute allowance with a file-count limit and a per-file duration limit. For example, 10 imports of 90 minutes each permit at most 900 imported minutes, even though the overall monthly allowance is 1,200 minutes. These limits apply together. Business expands file-import capacity, but its unlimited meeting/app-recording allowance does not remove the 6,000-minute monthly limit on imported files. Otter plan comparison (https://otter.ai/pricing) For delivery, Basic supports text export as TXT; paid plans add options such as DOCX, PDF and SRT. If a client needs a formatted document, include the export requirement when comparing the free and paid tiers. Otter export documentation (https://help.otter.ai/hc/en-us/articles/360047733634-Export-conversations) Sonix: calculate the included hours and overage together Sonix offers pay-as-you-go transcription at $10 per hour and subscriptions with included hours. Pay-as-you-go can suit irregular use; a subscription may be less expensive at a steady volume. The distinction matters because the most suitable plan can change as your workload grows. Transcription and translation share the time allowance, so translating the output can change the budget. Sonix pricing and feature details (https://sonix.ai/pricing/detailed-pricing-and-features) Its upload guidance normally allows files up to 8 hours and 16 GB, subject to account permissions. Storage limits are separate. Sonix also documents DOCX, TXT, PDF, SRT and VTT exports, making the required handoff format a concrete item to check. Upload limits (https://help.sonix.ai/en/articles/2701148-why-am-i-having-trouble-uploading-a-file-to-sonix), export options (https://help.sonix.ai/en/articles/1978923-how-do-i-export-a-transcript) Notta: a substantial Pro allowance, with separate file rules Notta’s Pro allowance equals 30 audio hours per month, which makes it worth comparing for regular use within that limit. Business changes the model to unlimited transcription time per seat, while retaining a monthly file allowance. Those are different constraints: processing long interviews and importing many short clips can lead to different plan choices. Notta pricing (https://www.notta.ai/en/pricing), plan explanation (https://support.notta.ai/hc/en-us/articles/55339089140123-Understand-Notta-s-Plans-Pricing) The import documentation allows audio files up to 1 GB and videos up to 10 GB. Files can be up to 5 hours without speaker recognition, or 3 hours with it enabled. Pro and higher plans support transcript downloads including TXT, DOCX, PDF and SRT. Check the speaker setting before assuming a long recording fits. Import rules (https://support.notta.ai/hc/en-us/articles/15358519267611-Import-files-from-local-storage), download formats (https://support.notta.ai/hc/en-us/articles/15289070397851-Download-transcription-file) Descript: evaluate the editing workflow as well as transcription Descript is a different purchase when the transcript is part of editing a podcast or video. Its media-minute allowance covers imported or recorded media, not just text generation. Uploading multiple assets can therefore consume more allowance than the running time of one finished episode. AI credits are a separate resource, so a transcription-only cost comparison does not cover every editing or generation feature. Descript usage rules (https://help.descript.com/billing-payments-plans/track-and-understand-your-media-minutes-and-ai-credits) Creator and Business can buy additional media hours. Descript also supports document-oriented transcript exports and SRT/VTT captions. If you already subscribe for editing, compare the extra media allowance you need before treating another transcription subscription as an automatic saving. Top-ups (https://help.descript.com/billing-payments-plans/top-ups), transcript exports (https://help.descript.com/export-and-share/transcript), subtitle exports (https://help.descript.com/export-and-share/subtitles) Rev: keep AI and human services separate Rev makes sense to examine when you want a choice between automated output and a separately priced human service. Essentials AI includes 5,000 minutes per person per month for English and Spanish; Pro increases the allowance and supports more languages. For a language outside Essentials, compare the relevant supported plan rather than its lower headline price. Rev subscription plans (https://support.rev.com/hc/en-us/articles/29054090743181-Subscription-Plans) The listed human-transcription price is $1.99 per minute, a different cost structure from AI subscriptions. A 60-minute recording would start at $119.40 before applicable extras or rounding rules. That calculation is useful for budgeting, but human-service claims should never be used as the accuracy score for Rev’s automated product. Rev pricing (https://www.rev.com/pricing) Transcription speed and accuracy Processing speed and recognition accuracy answer different questions. Recordings, scoring rules and timing boundaries differ across the studies below, so their results do not form a single ranking. Transcription time comparison with audio duration and sources The timings below include upload plus transcription where stated. RJI’s three entries use the same interview; the other observations concern their own recordings. For your own recordings, check names, numbers, overlapping speech and background noise, as well as how much correction is needed before the transcript is usable. What 10, 50 and 100 audio hours could cost each month The following estimates apply published monthly rates to English recorded-file transcription for one billed user or editor. They exclude tax, translation, AI-generation extras and human editing. Each recording must fit the plan’s file and storage rules. The table shows estimates for specific plan combinations; actual charges depend on the seats and options purchased. Product | 10 hours/month | 50 hours/month | 100 hours/month | Basis | AccurateScribe | $19.99 | $19.99 | $19.99 | Published monthly Unlimited plan | Otter | $16.99 | $30.00 | $30.00 | Pro for 10 hours within its import limits; Business for larger volumes | Sonix | $50.00 | $180.00 | $680.00 | Advanced for 10 hours; Pro plus $10/hour overage thereafter | Notta, per billed seat | $13.49 | $27.99 | $27.99 | Pro for 10 hours; Business for 50/100 hours, up to 200 files per seat/month | Descript | $24.00 | $115.00 | $265.00 | Hobbyist for 10 hours; Creator plus media top-ups for larger volumes | Rev AI | $29.99 | $29.99 | $59.99 | Essentials for 10/50 hours; Pro for 100 hours | Sources: AccurateScribe (https://accuratescribe.ai/pricing), Otter (https://otter.ai/pricing), Sonix (https://sonix.ai/pricing), Notta (https://www.notta.ai/en/pricing), Descript (https://www.descript.com/pricing) and its media top-ups (https://help.descript.com/billing-payments-plans/top-ups), and Rev (https://www.rev.com/pricing). Notta figures are per billed seat. Multiply the Business rate by the number of seats purchased; file allowances also apply per seat. Two examples show how the estimates work. Sonix Pro at 100 hours is $80 + (100 − 40) × $10 = $680. Descript Creator at 50 hours is $35 + an additional 20-hour pack at $80 = $115. At 100 hours, adding 50-hour and 20-hour packs produces $35 + $150 + $80 = $265. Descript’s top-up documentation (https://help.descript.com/billing-payments-plans/top-ups) gives those pack prices; this is a Creator-based scenario, not a claim that no other plan combination could be preferable. Match the calculation to your file pattern. Otter Pro’s 10-import limit matters even below its minute allowance, and 100 hours consumes Business’s full imported-minute allowance. Existing subscriptions also change the decision: an additional media pack may cost less than buying a second tool. Finally, software price does not include the time you spend checking quotations, names or subtitle timing. Documents and subtitles need different checks For a written interview, check whether speaker labels, paragraph breaks and corrected text survive export. For captions, check the required file type and play the exported track against the video. A transcript can read well while still needing changes to subtitle timing or segmentation. The presence of an export format establishes that the option exists; it does not measure the quality of a particular result. Help (https://support.rev.com/hc/en-us/articles/19135814561677-File-Formats-Rev-Offers) | Rev specifically distinguishes subtitle files exported from an AI transcript from a separate AI Captions order. If captions are your final deliverable, compare the actual caption workflow rather than assuming every route produces the same editable result. Rev file-format guidance (https://support.rev.com/hc/en-us/articles/19135814561677-File-Formats-Rev-Offers) Which tool should you try first? For audio and video transcription, compare AccurateScribe’s flat subscription, Sonix’s included-hour and overage model, and Notta Pro if your workload fits its 30-hour monthly allowance and file rules. For meetings, the shortlist can include AccurateScribe, Otter and Notta; also compare capture and shared-note features if those are part of your workflow. Descript is relevant when you need podcast or video editing. Rev adds a separately priced human-service option alongside its AI plans. Then process a representative recording with your two strongest candidates. Include a passage with names or numbers, a speaker change and the kind of background sound you normally encounter. Correct the output to your required standard and open the exported file in its destination application. That complete task will tell you more about fit than an isolated headline accuracy percentage. Frequently asked questions Which transcription tool is the most accurate? The available public tests use different recordings and scoring methods, so they do not establish an accuracy leader among these six tools. To compare AccurateScribe with the other candidates, test the same representative recording and score each transcript against the same reference text. Does unlimited transcription mean there are no restrictions? No. Check how the provider defines the allowance, plus file duration, file count, storage and access to exports. A meeting allowance may differ from a file-import allowance, and a free preview may differ from access to a complete transcript. Those distinctions can change which plan actually covers your task. Can a transcript be used directly as subtitles? Only after checking the required format, timing and segmentation. Select a plan with the needed export option and review the resulting captions against the video. A readable document and a publishable subtitle track are different deliverables. Making the choice Choose the two services that best fit your workflow, then compare them on the same recording. Check the transcript, correction time, exported file and total cost at your expected volume. The better choice is the one that produces an acceptable deliverable with the least overall effort and a bill you can predict. Test notes and sources Product information and subscription terms were checked on 2026-10-17. Cost scenarios use the plan combinations and assumptions shown above. Performance studies retain their authors, dates and original links. File medians, corpus WER, semantic errors and task-success measures use different scoring methods and should be read within each study’s scope.
